NZKS DIY Knifemaking Kits include everything* you need to make a knife, kydex sheath, and a mini forge!

Plus an optional 10 page instruction book which explains the entire process from profile to sheath, with particularly detailed instructions for the heat treat, quench, and temper process.

*Almost everything – This kit is designed specifically for beginners who want to create their first knife from scratch using standard DIY tools. All you need to supply is sandpaper, drill bits, glue, a blow torch, and ideally a bench sander.

Build a three brick mini forge to heat treat your own knives at home using special aluminium oxide refractory bricks and the included high temperature cement. The bricks are soft enough to hollow out with a hole saw or rasp and once stuck together with the fire cement make a mini forge capable of reaching the 815°C temperature needed to heat treat steel using nothing more than a blowtorch (although ideally you’ll use 2 torches to help distribute the heat evenly, especially for bigger knives – this is discussed in detail in the instruction booklet).
